The president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe is planning to attend the White House Tribal Nations Conference in Washington, D.C. next month.
President Rodney Bordeaux says he's looking forward to the opportunity to meet again with President Barack Obama. Bordeaux says on a campaign stop in Sioux Falls last May, then–Senator Obama agreed to meet with tribal leaders on an annual basis. The White House says each of the 564 federally recognized tribes in the U.S. will be invited to send one representative to the Tribal Nations Conference on November 5th. Bordeaux says he expects South Dakota to be well–represented there. He says there are a number of issues to discuss ... treaties, education, health, and law and order ... just to name a few. |
