At the high school level, the Newell Lady Irrigators are less than a day from the start of their run as the top seeds in the Class 'B' state basketball tournament.The team finished third at the Class 'A' tournament just last year, giving the team even higher expectations for this season. The Class 'B' tournament begins with the top seeds from Newell in action against 8th-seeded Highmore Harrold. Tip-off of that one is set for noon our time.The Wall Lady Eagles' run begins against 20-and-3 Summit. Gametime is slated for 1-45 Thursday afternoon. The evening session at the Class 'B' tournament begins with Freeman against 2nd seeded Castlewood. Viborg will help to close the first day of action against James Valley Christian. That game is tabbed for a 7-45 start. The Class 'B' state tournament runs through Saturday.
